It was definitely in the low 3000's when I first got it on the M1 MBA release day at the end of November 2020.
So I've finally decided to upgrade to an M2 MacBook Air from a 8gb 128gb ssd 2015 13 inch MacBook Pro but now I'm unsure of which configuration. For my needs (web browsing, word, google docs, streaming) I would totally be fine with the base model but one thing that is putting me off is the slower 256gb storage.

Sure, the SSD speed drop is disappointing, but itās not a difference that the average user will notice. The 15-inch Apple MacBook Air for under $1,000 is worth getting as a late Christmas
That depends on our exact model so look it up here. It can be as high as 6 Gb/s. Share. Improve this answer. Follow. answered Apr 21, 2014 at 13:29. Ruskes. 47.1k 8 67 147.
You will only get 1400-1500 MB/s read/write speeds as the bus is PCIe 2.0 x4 speed. I have the same limitation on my 2017 MacBook Air with the Samsung 970 EVO that is actually capable of 3500/2500 read/write speeds on a full PCIe 3.0 x4 bus, which the Air does not have on 2017 and earlier.
